Jimmy Chin’s photos for the new North Face Spring 2009 Summit Series print ads are currently appearing in Outside Magazine, National Geographic Adventure, Climbing and other magazines.

Jimmy Chin shot these images on assignment for The North Face on his recent expedition to the Garwhal Himalaya in Northern India where he and elite alpinists Conrad Anker and Renan Ozturk attempted the yet-unclimbed East Face on Meru Central. Jimmy Chin is interviewed in the March 2009 Popular Photography about his experience shooting in extreme environments like Everest, Annapurna and the Karakoram Mountains of Pakistan. He offers advice for other photographers on how to plan and execute photo shoots in the most extreme situations. Included are Jimmy’s photos on the cover and four page spread within the magazine. 

Advertising Photographers of America (APA) awarded Jimmy Chin for his work in the area of Sports (Action/Adventure) in their 2008 National Photo Competition. A prestigious panel of judges made their selections out of thousands of images submitted by hundreds of talented photographers from across the USA and Europe.

Jimmy’s winning image was displayed at the APA National booth at Photo Plus Expo in NYC from October 23-25, 2008 and at the Winners Exhibition at the Calumet Galley in NYC from December 18, 2008 – January 17, 2009 .

In this annual issue devoted to pioneering explorers who have made important humanitarian contributions to organizations around the world, Jimmy Chin was photographed in NYC by the world renowned fashion photographer, Kurt Markus, and shares the spotlight with the likes of Philippe and Alexandra Cousteau, Christy Turlington, Geoffrey Kent, and Matthew Bogdanos. 

Outside Magazine (China edition) presented an 18-page cover story spread entitled “The Legend” highlighting Jimmy’s career as an adventure photographer. Full-page photos include images from his expeditions to Mali, Everest, Annapurna and Pakistan. Their interview encompases Jimmy’s career documenting some of the greatest adventure athletes in the world.
